this is actually a very old picture. I never got around to finishing it because I was terrified I would ruin it, I guess, but I've been working on it today and I think I've finally done this picture justice. it was probably inspired by Princess Mononoke, but I really don't remember where the idea for this came.
the filename was 'mother'. it's always just sort of been sitting there in my unfinished art folder. I'm glad I finally rediscovered it and finished it up. (:
"Man is only on this earth because he found a way to slaughter irrationally and run away more efficiently than other animals, but this creature for me is more amazing than we could ever be. The claws on the rear feet are in a tight, gripped position, almost as if poised for an attack on the human and although the amazing digital work on the hair makes this look like a sweet, gentle creature, the mask concealing its face adds a hint of dread to the picture. It almost seems like this creature is a sort of protector for the wild flora and fauna growing on its back- shielding it from the onslaught of one of the most destructive creatures in this picture- man."
